Sailing under the stars in Cádiz this autumn

Under the autumn sky in the Bay of Cádiz

Autumn has arrived in the Bay of Cádiz with a calm that feels tailor-made for sailing. The afternoons are shorter, the sun sets earlier, and when the light fades, the sea becomes a dark mirror where the stars reflect with perfect clarity. October is, without a doubt, one of the most magical months to experience a Sea Starlight experience.

We set sail from Puerto América toward the horizon

A few days ago, four travellers —two German couples— boarded with us at Puerto América (Cádiz). We set sail at sunset and, after about six miles of navigation, reached the outer limit of the bay, where the city lights faded behind us and silence began to surround everything. The air was mild and warm, and the sky completely clear.

A journey that amazed our visitors

**Katrin, one of the passengers, told us she was amazed to be sailing like this in the middle of October: “In Hamburg it’s already cold, and here I am, without a coat, looking at the stars with a glass of wine in my hand. It’s incredible.” Lucía, our astronomy guide for the German visitors, led the stargazing that night. Between constellations, she shared mythology, while Alberto, the skipper, explained how ancient sailors navigated using the night sky.**

Orion, the hunter who announces winter

As she pointed toward the horizon, Lucía told the story of Orion — the giant hunter who, according to legend, tried to chase the Pleiades and was placed in the sky by Zeus alongside his dog, Sirius. “When you see his belt rising above the sea, know that it announces the winter,” she explained. Everyone watched in fascination, trying to recognize the hunter among the scattered lights of the sky.

The sea as a classroom, the sky as a teacher

The sea was calm, with only a gentle sway. The temperature was mild. Only the sound of the water and the creak of the sail accompanied the moment. Every journey has its own character, but they all share something in common: that feeling of quiet vastness and complete disconnection. Sailing in autumn from Cádiz is no exception — it’s a privilege. The sea offers its calm, the sky its show, and the silence its reward. Under the stars, just a few miles from shore, we understand that the true journey is not always measured in distance, but in the depth of the moment.
